Hyenas in Zambia - Journeysmiths

Hyenas in Zambia - Journeysmiths

The Brief:

Travel to one of the remotest national parks in Southern Africa, Liuwa Plain and the King Luwanika safari camp, to produce a film about hyenas and their sometimes fraught relationship with local human populations. Meanwhile, position Journeysmiths as a market leader in wildlife, conservation, and luxury travel in Africa.

The Challenge:

The SPC crew travelled alongside a tour group to a remote Zambian camp by single-prob Cessna 210, not far from the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. They had just a day to execute their plan of shadowing a specialist hyena ranger on his patrols. We travelled by Landcruiser and motorbike to spend time with a clan featured on the BBC wildlife series Dynasties II.

The Results:

This film was published by The Telegraph and used across Journeysmith’s marketing channels. It also won high profile industry awards: Silver at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa and the Broadcaster of the Year 2022 award at the British Guild of Travel Writers MEAs. We collaborated with the Rusty Mokoro to bring this vital story to life.
