Cycling in Madeira - Visit Madeira

Cycling in Madeira - Visit Madeira

The Brief:

Promote inbound tourism to a remote Atlantic island during the height of a global pandemic. All while capturing the sights and sounds of this far-flung destination in ‘normal’ times too. Rival better-known cycling destinations such as Mallorca and the South of France.

The Challenge:

Travel during the pandemic wasn’t easy, for tourists, and especially film crews. We put together a small team of shooting producers to follow Simon Parker on a gruelling trip around the island. Madeira was one of the few places on Earth with almost no Covid-19 infections, therefore we were determined to get that message across while simultaneously making a cycling brand video that felt evergreen.

The Results:

With more than 16,000 views online, this film, in collaboration with The Telegraph, became one of Telegraph Travel’s most-viewed travel video of the year. It was shortlisted for several high-profile travel media awards and continues to be used by Visit Madeira, both online and at real-world events, to promote the island as a lesser-known cycling destination. Better still, the film boosted in-bound adventure tourism at a time when fresh air was in high demand.
